Can’t Find The Visiting Card That The Escalator Pitch Earned You Should’ve Used a Business Card Holder

Let’s start with a brief look at the history of evolution of business cards to help us understand why exactly they are considered important. Business cards, quite literally, are cards that carry business information about a company or individual. It is kind of a ritual to exchange business card at the end or start of a formal interaction as a gesture of good faith and expression of interest in future engagement. The design of business cards over time has changed and Mark Zuckerberg’s card that reads “I’m CEO, B#$#h” has taken it to newer heights. It is also available in different paper sizes, types and designs. It is especially relevant for marketing as it can help businesspeople present a good company image by highlighting the services provided by a particular company. The famous scene in “The Pursuit of Happiness” where the protagonist (Will Smith) has to memorize the number of an investor also in a way reminds us of the business card that could have made life easier for him. More often than not, it is the same with people who make a pitch over a short span of meeting and are given a card and asked to call back. That one card not only contains the contact details of people but also encompasses the hopes and dreams of the person making the pitch. So to keep that card like the key to the national treasure is highly recommended. This is where business card holders come in.

Business card holder is provided in wallets as well. It could be relevant to common students and people but to businessmen that rely on networks and contacts to make a living, the number of cards exchanging hands is too much to be contained in a wallet. This makes the wallet thicker than required increasing the risk of elastic strain and also lack of arrangement of the cards. Finding a card when you need it is as important as keeping the card properly. Keeping the card with you and not being able to find it when required serves no purpose. In this regard, it is quite a commendable practice to maintain business card holders. Further, the person who takes a card, looks at it and then puts it in a separate business card holder is more capable of leaving a positive impression on the business as compared to the person who takes the card and somehow stuffs it into his back pocket. Business card holders provide a boost to one’s image as well.

But then, why carry a business card holder in the digital world. How relevant is a business card in current age of digitisation you may ask. Firstly, saving Mr James Cook in your smartphone as contacts will not really have any relevance as you’ll finally forget about it and one fine day while going through your contacts delete it. Company websites and networking websites, such as LinkedIn, do an effective job of gathering contact information and connecting people. However, a website address or a person’s LinkedIn account is easily lost in translation if a person does not have something tangible to remind them to reconnect after the meeting. Regardless of the all technology in everyday life, there is still a need for adding a personal touch, such as a business card, to one’s networking strategy. A creative or custom designed card portrays more than just a name and phone number, it is also your brand personality. So does a cardholder. Thus, to assume that one can work without business cards is not something that can happen in near future and to efficiently store and retrieve the cards, organized storage is a must. This can be achieved using business card holders
