Why a Good Hair Day Means The World to Women?

In the documentary, Good Hair, produced by Chris Rock, Maya Angelou says, “Hair is a woman’s glory.”

They keep saying, “Do not judge a woman by the way she looks.” But do they really practice what they preach? Even if it’s not about how others look at you, it’s definitely about how you look at yourself. Every time you go in front of the mirror during your day at work, all that you want see is a pretty face with perfect hair. You smile at yourself and you’re good to go back to work. But hold on, what if you don’t see what you want? What’s up with all that frizz in your hair, why is the scalp too oily, why is the shine missing?

A good hair day sometimes seems more important than a good meal at lunch. Damn the feminine nature! But who can be blamed, really? Women, if thought of deeply, aren’t really bothered about looking pretty for others, as long as they feel good about themselves. If that strand of hair falls at just the right place on her face with that air breeze, the feminity that emanates is beyond comparison.

But what a bad hair day can do to a woman’s mood is something beyond words! She will keep fiddling with it to find the right hairdo, would get tired, frustrated, but wouldn’t give up. She’d curse the unknown, trying hard to find the reason for the bad day.

I hear friends often saying, “just when I want my hair to look good, something goes wrong!” It seems our hair have a lot of attitude, considering the tantrums that they throw!!

And that is precisely why hair care companies have come with products ranging from as meaningful as hair serum to as amusing as a hair perfume. And then all those electronic devices, straighteners, irons, curlers and what not.
It all leaves me wondering, what did mom do all those years ago, that still leaves me envious of that pretty hair that she adorns!
